What is faith and its’ purpose?
The Catholic Catechism teaches us that Christian faith is revealed by God. In other words, God revealed Himself to the human person. If the person acknowledges such a revelation and accepts it, this faith is being born as the response to the revelation of God. On the other hand, if the people, without acknowledging the revelation of God, start to “respond” by creating some kind of religious practice, they might enter into a false religious reality. There would be no connection to the Living God but a practice which can lead astray. In short, we can live by faith which comes as the response to the revelation of God, or we can live by the concept of religion which is a purely human creation. The difference is great.
The purpose of faith is to live in union with God.
